Author - Illustrator - Ceramist
I love picture books, paints and pencils and playing with clay. I use a mix of media in my illustrations, but watercolour and, more recently, digital are central. My favourite illustrators include Emily Gravett, Freya Blackwood, David Roberts and Kate Hindley.
At an early age I knew I wanted to write and illustrate picture books. Then, during a Visual Arts degree, I fell in love with Ceramics and spent the next 20 years covered in clay. I rediscovered drawing in 2014 when I joined an online illustration challenge. Six months later I was offered my first illustration contract. Inspired to start writing, in 2015 and 2016 I entered and won the CYA illustrated manuscript competition. ‘Kate and the Thing’ (Wombat Books) was my first book as both author and illustrator and 'Six Sleepy Mice' (Little Pink Dog Books) my second.
Most recently I've had the pleasure of illustrating for Larrikin House. Keep an eye out for 'Garbage Guts' by Emily S. Smith, and 'Bad Herbert' by Mike Lucas.
I'm always keen to chat about anything to do with illustrating, writing, and ceramics. If you'd like to get in touch, please message me on my Facebook page.
